Coming from New Braunfels you first see the water reservoir and hidden behind trees you find the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch. 28 tennis courts, a Pool, hotel, outback and last but not least the Tennis Academy. For years I dreamed to live here and to play tennis full-time My dream became true Phil and the other coaches practice with us at summer temperatures of more than 35 Grad C. During winter it also can become really cold. During the night temperatures can be below zero. Nevertheless we play outside the whole year. Indoor courts as in Europe are not known here in Texas.

Do you want to know how my typical day in Texas looks like? On Mondays I wake up at 5:30 and at 5:45 I sit in the van, going to morning fitness. Sprints in a sleepy neighborhood at a really tough hill. After fitness there is breakfast. At 9:00 I go to school. One of the coaches takes us with a van to San Antonio. I am going to a private school here, Blessed Hope Academy, because to a public school I only could have gone for one year. So I also can stay here for longer, if I want and do my graduation. At 13:00 we are back to the Ranch and have lunch than. And at 14:00 we are back on the tennis court.

Warm up, hitting some not to hard balls and than intensive drilling. At 17:30 we are done with tennis and then we go to a fitness studio. Back on the ranch we have to do our homework-That private school gives a lot of room for tennis but you have to work on your own to fulfill the goals. At 20:00 “work” and we meet in the lodge for table tennis, table soccer or just looking TV. It sounds very hard but it’s also a lot of fun.
